When you are going to place your bet on the Super Bowl, you have a few different options-Superbowl straight bets, totals, parlays and teasers.

Making a straight bet means that the team you have wagered on must win by the point spread given at the time. In games that are tied, the wager is considered no action and you get your money back. Check the Superbowl betting odds before placing your straight bet to ensure that you can make a well educated bet.

To bet on totals, which are also known as over/under bets, the combined score of both teams is wagered on. For example, if you were to bet the total of the game to be over on a total of 45. If both teams’ scores add up to more than 45, you win, less than, you lose.

The Super Bowl

The Super Bowl is the final contest of the professional season and determines the league's annual champion. Now probably the most important single-day sporting event in the United States, the Super Bowl had more modest beginnings. In 1967 the champions of the American Football League (which merged with the NFL in 1970) and the NFL met in what was called the AFL-NFL World Championship Game. The name was later shortened to Super Bowl, named after a child's toy, the Super Ball.

The trophy awarded to the winning team of each Super Bowl was originally called the World Championship Trophy. It was later called the Lombardi Trophy, named after Vince Lombardi, and NFL legend.

There are actually two Lombardi Trophies at each Super Bowl game. One is a back up in case the one presented to the team is destroyed during the celebration.
